I am super excited to help you or your child excel in their academic pursuits. School can be a stressful environment that makes concentration difficult; sometimes learning something a different way--in a one-on-one setting instead of a classroom setting--can be just the thing a student needs to reach their true potential. Being able to make seemingly complex lessons simple is what I do best.
Specifically, my expertise is preparation for elementary level state exams (Florida Standards Assessments [FSAs]), creative writing, standard essay and free-form essay writing (expository and narrative essays, research papers in MLA and APA Formats, poetry analysis, literary analysis, persuasive essays, free-response essays and newspaper articles for all sections in AP Style), and elementary maths.
Throughout my own schooling experience, I have always had a passion for tutoring, offering alternate study methods or simplified explanations to my peers whenever they needed it. I personally tutored my younger sister and her friends throughout their middle school careers and periodically offer my help online now that I have relocated for higher education. My high school teachers often asked me to tutor students in their classes even after graduating from them myself. You can rely on me to make the subjects you or your child struggles with their greatest strengths!
I have always been an accelerated reader who understands literature at both a technical and artistic level. Nearly every year of my schooling, I have completed an advanced English course and passed with flying colors. Most of my free time is spent writing--creatively and academically--so I am definitely your go-to for anything and everything regarding the written (or typed) word, including essays.
One of my personal hobbies is writing calligraphy, so studying different handwriting styles as well as knowing the fundamental basics of handwriting at an intimate level is something I have long since achieved.
The highest level of mathematics I have taken is AP Calculus in high school, so most subjects below this level come easily, especially Statistics since I have taken two courses at both the high school and college level in the subject.
I love seeing a smile cross someone's face once they finally understand a difficult concept I have helped them with. It would be my utmost pleasure putting one of those smiles on your or your child's face! Please feel free to send me an email or give me a call to see if I am the right tutor for you or schedule future lessons. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
One of my central hobbies, which I have taken up for several years, is writing calligraphy. In order to write calligraphy, knowing the fundamental basics of cursive and print handwriting is a necessity.
