Bio

I believe understanding is the path to learning and I endeavor to help students in their journey. My peers describe me as soft spoken and patient. My teaching strategy includes compassion and encouragement; simultaneously, I am structured and clear with instructions. I believe in utilizing analogies to facilitate the learning process and keeping instruction based on the student’s personal experience. Knowledge should be fun and exciting.

I'm a biologist with a background in psychology. I have taught for FAU summer science institute and have taught undergraduate level Anatomy & Physiology lab courses. Primary school classrooms are familiar to me as well. I taught a college education lab for the early development of reading and math in primary education and my cognitive science bachelors gives me insight into learning development and styles. I have tutored for over two decades in math, science, English, reading and comprehension, and test prep. My professional background also equips me with the skills to help adults in basic computer use and intermediate level use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

My hope is to share the strategies for my academic and professional success with anyone endeavoring to pursue an education (formal or otherwise). The exercise of studying can seem daunting, but the rewards harvested are always worth it.

Knowledgeable and patient

She is helping me with business stats. Equivalent to stats one just geared towards business related ideas. She’s amazing great tutor if you’re looking for one. Before her, I got a C on my first exam. Since then, I’ve gotten two A’s!

Knowledgeable, Instructive, & Fostering Tutor

Needing help on the GRE, Karen prepped me for a multitude of things--from material, techniques, and strategies. Karen helped me focus on the ways I could improve my problem areas and even enhance other areas I felt alright with. She patiently solved each problem in a way that could be understood to me and did it with such expertise. She made me to feel more confident going into the exam and, in result, my scores did go up! This is because of Karen and her teaching methods! I recommend!!
