I have successfully taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Precalc., and Physics. Although I have never taught Chemistry, College Algebra, and Statistics in the classroom I have successfully tutored these subjects. In addition I have tutored for the math sections of the SAT (I and II), ACT, General Contractors exam, Teacher Certification exam (both Praxis and FTCE), Water Distribution certification exam, GED, and ASVAB. I get back to what makes sense to a student and then build from there. I do all of this with a sense of humor and a smile!

Slow down, it really is easy. I learned my trade as a high school math and science teacher. This is where I took on explaining a concept in a way that the student understands as opposed to merely expecting a student to understand what I said. Once you find the foundation building on it is easy, for both the tutor and the student.

In addition to in person tutoring I have engaged students at a distance over the internet. Today's technology allows online sessions to be just as effective as those conducted face to face. I have had students from as far away as Alaska and China. Give it a try.

My statistics education began as self taught. When I found I needed more depth of knowledge I found online courses to 'fill in the gaps'. I am currently auditing STA 2023.

Study Skills

Study Skills

I learned study skills over time from experience as a student, teacher and business professional. I enhanced these skills by taking and teaching classes on the subject. Tutoring in this area is a logical extension of this work. I find it very gratifying to be a part of a student's continued success.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have both tutored individuals and been a classroom teacher for Algebra. It is a favorite subject of mine as I know that it forms the basis of all more advanced work. Having fun and using real world examples are just a couple of my strengths when tutoring this subject.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have taught Algebra II in both the classroom as well as tutoring privately. The subject is a challenge for many students because of a lack of understanding of the Algebra I subject matter. We have fun and learn at the same time. In addition I have vast and successful experience tutoring college level Algebra students.
Geometry,

Geometry

I was truly lucky to have a teacher who made Geometry real, I now do that for my students. My experience includes both classroom teaching and tutoring. I work hard to have fun as we discuss what we are working on.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

What a great subject!! The basis for years to come. I am experienced teaching this subject both in a classroom and 1 to 1 and have excellent skills explaining the subject in terms a student 'gets'.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I have experience teaching Precalculus as both a classroom teacher and a tutor. I find that it is a critical point for most students looking for more advanced studies. We approach the subjects with both fun and rigor. I have also tutored college students who are preparing to take Calculus.

Probability

Probability is such a neat subject. How many times does someone say 'what are the chances...'? Well this is how you know, for real, what the chances are. In addition the understanding of odds puts a bright light on betting and understanding how that works. It doesn't matter that you don't bet it's fun and interesting to know how odds are calculated.

Trigonometry

Sometimes when you are studying Trig you wonder, "How did someone come up with this?" Well that's part of the joy of the subject. Although I have been very successful tutoring trig I felt a need to refresh the concepts in my mind. So I enrolled in, and completed, a review.

ASVAB,

ASVAB

I have tutored, both in person and online, in a number of subject areas. My strong suit is math but I have covered the full range of subjects included on the ASVAB exam. As a teacher I assisted coworkers who were using the Praxis exam to add mathematics to the list of subjects they could teach. Kind, funny, patient tutor

Bill is extremely helpful and is the first tutor I’ve come across out of several that works at a comfortable pace. He is super sweet and funny, it makes me look forward to our sessions, and I’m not even a fan of math. Highly recommend Bill for any and all math struggles. :)

Great Geometry tutor

Bill was great and helped Kristen think outside the box. He also was light hearted humor! A very nice person with a pleasant personality! Our internet went down but we sent him the materials and he went over by phone. Went the extra mile! Highly recommended!

Great start

My son said that Bill helped him a lot. It showed the next day he got a 97 on his quiz. This is a huge improvement from the 67 he got on the last test. I feel that this is the best money I have spent in a while. My son was so proud of himself and I feel relief. We are going to continue weekly sessions. I wish I tried this sooner.

Friendly and very knowledgeable

Mr Bill works very well with our daughter who can be very resistant to homework and school work. Since we started sessions she has brought her testing grades up from a 48 F to a 82 B which is a huge improvement and has had a much easier time completing her homework on her own. He is also very friendly, on time and so easy to work with regarding scheduling and locations. We are lucky to have him as her tutor!

Knowledgeable and down to earth

We just hired Bill for help with honors Geometry for my daughter, an IB student. My daughter is a bit shy so I never know how a tutoring session is going to go. From the moment I met him at the door, Bill was very friendly and made my daughter feel comfortable and confident right away. He helped her understand the material while at the same time building her confidence. I was very happy with our first lesson and will definitely use him again.

Thrilled with son's Algebra progress

This is the first time we hired a tutor for our 8th grade son. He has typically been an A/B student, but the world of Algebra presented quite a challenge for him this year. I was a little apprehensive about inviting a stranger to speak with my son online, but Bill came highly recommended by a neighbor. Online sessions were an ideal solution for this time-crunched, working mom, so I thought we'd give Bill a try. SO GLAD WE DID! After only 2 lessons, my son went from low C/D on his Algebra tests to an 85 and a 90! Bill has not only helped him through test reviews, but also taught him important test taking skills. My son enjoys interacting with Bill and we just could not be more pleased with the convenience of online lessons. THANKS, BILL! Looking forward to continuing lessons throughout the year.

Bill helped my son pass pre calculus!

My son, a senior in high school, was failing this class and in danger of not graduating. We found Bill and he came once to review his homework and again right before the final. My son went from a 57% to a high C. We are so grateful for Bill’s interventions!
