I'm presently a graduate student at the University of Tampa, working towards a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Creative writing. I received my Bachelors Degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage and since writing has been a passion of mine, I decided to pursue it. With the background in theater, I was able to gain experience in high stress situations and deadlines as well as communicating with all sorts of people that may have slightly less normal personalities.
I'm very capable of talking to a crowd or an individual, with the background in stage management, I've learned project management and in a way, human resources--or really just managing and speaking to people. I've freelance written a little bit for a few companies, doing promotional polls, banners, letters to members, and a few articles on travel and lifestyle, but I want more.
What I would like to bring through tutoring is my high energy and encouragement for the student to learn the way they learn best! To be understood, to find that passion for acquiring knowledge. I'm patient, focused, self-starting, good on a team or individually. I know how to prioritize and get jobs done on time, I'm creative, flexible, and ready to learn, grow, and become a member of a team that will be my life's career. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received a bachelors degree in Theater from the University of Alaska Anchorage. I know about not only being on stage, but the basics and some advanced information for the backstage things as well including lighting, costume, set design and construction, management, knots, BASIC rigging, and playwriting.
