I attended Eastern Connecticut State University for my bachelor's degree in history. After graduating, I spent a year subbing in two different school systems in many different grades and subjects. This gave me the opportunity to decide what grade level I wanted to pursue. I went back to school for my master's degree in elementary education at Sacred Heart University. Here I recieved a GPA of 3.98 and also earned my Connecticut Teaching Certificate.
This past year I taught 3rd and 4th grade for a special education program called Sunrise Community School in Killingly, CT. This was a brand new strictly behavioral school. Since it was a new school each teacher had to create all of their own curriculum and design their own lesson plans based on the new Common Core Standards. I found this to be a very rewarding experience that helped me to develop even more skills.
Last month I moved to Florida from Connecticut and have just applied for a transfer in my certification. I would love to share my knowledge of elementary education and sense of creativity with you and your child.
