Hello, my name is Wachaspati P., and by profession, I am an IT (Software) manager with 18 years of work experience. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1996, and have enjoyed math ever since I was a little boy. Throughout my elementary, middle, high school and college - I have performed very well on every math tests, scoring more than 96%, and have enjoyed sharing my knowledge with my colleagues and friends. However, with a full time IT job, I could never really pursue a tutoring career. My active interest in math and my appreciation for the subject, has always kept me engaged and engrossed with math.
Information technology (IT) and software development have something very common with math - logic and structure. I believe that explains my strong affinity towards math. Now, I tutor in my spare time (mostly weekends and sometime Fri evening) to satisfy my passion for math and the inexplicable pleasure I incur to see a smile flash on my student's face when he or she goes - "Aha! Now I get it. Awesome!!". Knowledge is the only asset that grows with the degree your spend it or scatter it. My son always chimes in - "It is not what you gather but what you scatter that matters!"
I spend a lot of time with my kids helping them get advanced in math and they have displayed great results. My daughter who is in 10th grade scored a 720 in SAT Math recently and has always been a FCAT level 5 scorer all throughout from her 3rd grade. In fact, in 8th grade, she got a perfect score in FCAT math - no wrong answers! It is very fulfilling to be able to tutor her and to help her achieve great results in math. My son also scored a perfect 5 on 5 in Math in 3rd and 4th grade and is looking forward to his upcoming 5th grade FCAT. He was awarded an appreciation letter from FL governor for his 4th grade perfect score on FCAT Math and Reading.
Just to share a little bit about my parental background - my dad is a math professor (a D.Sc. - Doctor of Science - in math) and he has instilled great teaching and learning skills in me. By dint of his hard work, today, I feel I can really help students who are either struggling with math or those who are good but require a little guidance to attain that coveted level. I have around 10 years of total experience teaching math to my kids, their friends and neighbors. After being so successful with them, I decided to get registered with a formal tutoring service - WyzAnt - to help broaden my reach to other students who may also get benefited.
I have a very simple philosophy with teaching: "It is not what you teach, but how you teach that matters". I adapt my tutoring and communication approach based on the student's learning style, appetite (ability to retain subject matter) and curiosity level. I strongly believe that my job is to spark the interest and to whet the student's problem solving skills. Once I do that, learning and assimilation of core math skills just follow naturally! I enjoy my proficiency in elementary math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra-1, Algebra-2, College Algebra, Geometry, Pre-calculus, Trigonometry and a host of other topics. Please feel free to look at my certified subjects in my profile.
If you are a student who really wants to excel or get better, allow me to be your tutor and partner in your quest. Together, I am sure we will attain significant milestones - that’s a promise! Remember, the first step to success is to realize that you really want to succeed.
"Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success." -- Henry Ford

Thank you Manisha for your kind words of appreciation! Your daughter is a very diligent and bright student. It is my sheer pleasure to converse with her and share the subtle nuances of smart Mathematics (what text-books do not cover). I am elated to hear that I could spark a love for Math in her!
The whole interaction and encounter was the best I have found in a tutor
His introduction conversation was very professional and geared to my daughter's needs. He told me that learning is a journey which is so true. It is a journey to my daughter's future. I was very impressed with his preparation for the session and the detail he took to learn about our goals but he also listened to my daughter which made her feel like she was involved in her own journey to improve her knowledge in Algebra. We only had one session so far but I can see this as a new beginning for my daughter. It was a blessing for us to find him. He is a wonderful person and tutor.Evelyn, 36 lessons with WachaspatiTutor responded:

Results have been a great success
Mr. P. has been very helpful with my daughter's success. She had the last 2 chapters in PreCal that really had her stumped. Mr. P. took the time to map out a plan to help her understand and cover the work necessary to complete the semester on time. The results are in, and she has an A on top of that. If you are in need of a tutor, you will get your money's worth, without a doubt, with Mr. P.Marsha, 13 lessons with Wachaspati
