USF (Elementary Education)
Hi! I am a graduate of the University of South Florida. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary grades 1-6. I was an elementary public school teacher for about 10 years, teaching in both Pasco and Hillsborough counties.
I am also a mother of four. I have helped my boys with their homework ever since they started kindergarten. Now they are in grades six and eight! I also have a preschooler and a toddler who are like little sponges. It's fun working with them and watching them master new skills and knowledge.
I've tutored neighbor's children, friends' children, and prior students over the years. Many of them came to me over the summer in preparation for the next school year. It's a pleasure to work with kids one on one and watch them gain more confidence in their abilities and pride in their achievements.
I LOVE algebra! I always have! When I took it in school, it made sense to me so I easily scored high on tests/quizzes and got A's. Now that I have middle school children myself, I am happy to answer any questions they have with their algebra. I've also subbed in middle school and have assisted students in algebra class.
As an elementary teacher, I taught a range of grades from 2-5. Most of my years, I spent working with second grade students. I was a self-contained teacher meaning I taught all of the subject areas. I also worked as an inclusion teacher. This meant many of my students had learning disabilities. I worked closely with the ESE teacher to implement proper accommodations for these students so they could make high learning gains.
Please contact me with any further questions and/or to schedule your child's first lesson so he/she can continue to succeed in his/her education and learning! Hi! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education 1-6 from USF in 2000. After that, I worked as an elementary public school teacher for about 10 years in both Pasco and Hillsborough counties.
