William Paterson U. (Ele. Ed)
I began my teaching career in 1961 in New Jersey, where I taught 2nd and 3rd grades, along with private tutoring in reading. From there, I was encouraged to seek a job with a major publishing company in their phonics department. Before pursuing that opportunity, I applied for and was accepted by the US Department of Defense to teach in Western Germany, where I taught 1st grade for 4 years. That position not only fulfilled my love of teaching, but also gave me the opportunity go live amongst a different culture and travel extensively in Europe.
After marriage and while raising a family, I continued my teaching career by substituting in grades 1 through high school. Following a stint of 15 years, I decided to further my skills and applied to nursing school. I became an RN and chose to work in the child psychiatric field. I served as a school nurse in a Level 5 school on the grounds of Sheppard Pratt Hospital in Towson, MD until 2005.
After moving to Florida, I was recruited to work as a PRN nurse in the occupational health field for an agency that supplies nurses to the Federal Government offices of the IRS and Federal Occupational Health offices in Jacksonville, FL.
Since I still consider myself vibrant and able to contribute to society, I look forward to working with your child and you to help she/he to achieve success.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a permanent teaching certificate in Ele. Ed. from the state of NJ.. I have 20+ years of experience. I also had teaching certification from IL and MD, although I let those certificates expire when I left those states.
