I have a background in teaching English at the Secondary School level and hold a permanent Certification in English and Business in Florida, New York State and Texas as well as tennis coaching and teaching experience. Most recently, I have been an Adjunct Professor at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY, teaching Sales Management in their Graduate School of Business. I am currently an ESL instructor at a language academy and an ESL Adjunct Professor at Johnson and Wales University in North Miami.
My business career spanned 25 years at Verizon as a corporate trainer, Director of Operations, and Sales Executive all in New York City. I spent seven years as sales manager at a boutique life insurance and estate planning firm in New York and Florida. I have mentored students through my many years associated with Junior Achievement.
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy but am flexible as to rescheduling sessions. Tutoring lessons are usually conducted in a library convenient to both locations. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been playing tennis for 40 years and have played in state and national tournaments. I coached High School tennis in Texas with two state champions, was a teaching professional in New York and founded a men's league in Westchester County, NY. I continue to play competitive tennis in local leagues and for the United States Tennis association.
