John is one of those rare breed of teachers who knows his material intimately and can also teach it. As a late in life learner, I re-entered the learning environment with some trepidation. John built an immediate personal relationship with me, knew exactly what I needed and took me through it patiently. 5 Stars!
John works very well with students, has a very warm approach with everyone, and ensures no one feels lost in the process. He clearly enjoys the “people” aspect of his position.
This tutor was excellent! He knew exactly how to navigate around Photoshop and helped me master some new skills. I was able to complete a huge project for school and wouldn't have been able to accomplish this without him. He was very kind and patient as well. I would definitely hire him again. Thanks, John!
John is a very nice, fun, knowing and giving a lot tutor. It is easy to understand the material we are getting, because John gives a very good explanation and vivid examples. He is trying to adapt the subject to our needs, which is very important for us, because we using Excel for job purposes and what he does is very handy. So I highly recommend John's candidature to your future Excel Tutor position. We are very happy to have him as our teacher.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have played since I was a small child, participated in tournaments (and won a few), and even refereed a tournament or two in college. I have taught many people to play, ranging from childhood to adults. I can offer more than just the basic moves - good, sound strategy, exercises, techniques, traps to avoid, puzzles, and general theory. I enjoy playing and teaching chess.
I have taught computer-related courses for seven years in the public high schools and for Broward College. My most in-depth knowledge is of HTML and CSS (Web Design), but I have also taught Photoshop and general Windows courses, along with years of experience teaching Microsoft Office - Word, Powerpoint, and Excel. I can show you how to accomplish specific objectives, or concentrate on general knowledge - whatever would be of most benefit to you.
I spent 7 years teaching Web Design and related subjects in the local public high schools. My students regularly won Web Design competitions and created web sites on a par with professional designs. In addition, I have built several professional web sites and taught Web Design at a local community college.
