About Donald

For 25 years I taught a private studio of Horn students in Louisville/Lexington, KY with my students consistently earning All-State, All-District, and Superior honors in Kentucky. Continuing my education from the University of Louisville, I earned my education courses at the University of Kentucky before moving to Florida in 2001 where I have taught Band and Chorus as well as grammar, reading, and language arts for the past 16 years designing and implementing instrumental music courses at four private/charter schools. I have earned a reputation among my peers for successfully working with learning/physically disabled students including ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, Asperger's, and related LDs. My vocal ensembles from All Saints' Academy in Winter Haven and Classical Christian School for the Arts in Pinellas Park have taken gold in the Class A choral competition at the All American Music Festival in Orlando, FL and most recently I was the Music Professor at Kids Community College Charter School in Riverview, FL. I am currently the Principal Horn for the South Shore Symphony Orchestra in Ruskin, FL (since 2010), am now retired as the Principal Horn of the Imperial Symphony Orchestra in Lakeland, FL (15 yrs.), and currently am a licensed Security Officer instructor for Derek Jones Security and Firearms Academy (DJSFA) in Sarasota, FL.

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. I taught 4th and 5th grade Bible for five years at Classical Christian School For The Arts Pinellas Park. I am also a former adult Sunday School teacher in Louisville and Lexington, KY.

My students have regularly achieved Superior ratings in the KMEA solo/ensemble festivals and the FBA solo/ensemble MPAs in addition to numerous All State performers.
