About Albert

I taught algebra and calculus as a teaching fellow at Boston College where I earned a graduate degree in math while teaching prealgebra, algebra, trigonometry and basic calculus.

I am also very familiar with PC and networking including both Windows and Apple / IOS products and software. Have used PC, iPhone and iPad extensively. I have also tutored both students and work associates over the years.

My favorite job was teaching and I received great reviews from my students. My approach was to make sure they understood the reasoning behind formulas versus memorization.

My work experience has included all phases of software development from coding, analysis, testing through project management.

This is a second career for me and I am looking forward to giving back in a rewarding experience for both of us.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

COBOL

I developed COBOL applications for over 25 years; involved in all aspects of development including business, technical and quality assurance. I designed, coded and tested systems using COBOL, CICS, and various file structures. I am also well versed in JCL and procedures. I hired, trained and developed many junior associates ranging from recent college graduates to more experienced junior programmer / analysts. I have many industry contacts and references.

General Computer

I am well versed in both Windows and Apple products. Whether it be PC, phone, iPad, networking, application usage, ongoing maintenance & backup, etc, I can help in a friendly and understanding way.

For those seeking programming tutoring, I have strong background in COBOL programming as I worked for 30 years in software development performing all related activities such as programming, analysis, testing, installation, etc. Training / tutoring methods include theory and hands on experience with many questions both to and from me.
