About Amber

I have been teaching for over 5 years, here in Florida & teaching abroad. Thus, I have a great deal of cultural as well as well-rounded teaching experience. I was a private tutor for more than 10 years. I thoroughly enjoyed working with students 1:1 and watching them grow from semester to semester. My tutoring experience ranged from elementary-aged children up through high school students.

Presently, I teach ESE Elementary students. I am currently certified in English 6-12 grade, K-6 Elementary Education, ESE K-12, ESOL endorsed, & Reading Endorsement, I & II. I work with students in small group settings, which allow me to assess & meet their individual needs. In my personal time I enjoy reading, Yoga, spending time with my children, gardening, spending time outdoors, & making wonderful memories with family & friends.

Common Core Experience; Discovery Education Math; Administered FSA Math

I have been teaching Common Core for the past 3 years in grades 1st-5th.

I currently am an ESE teacher. I work with students who have learning disabilities. They vary from SLD, OHI, ADD, ADHD, EBD students. I currently teach phonics through the Wilson Reading Program.

I have a plethora of teaching experience. I love tutoring because I get to know my student's individual needs quickly & can begin closing their academic gaps! In addition, I have a lot of experience working with students whom experience test anxiety. So, if you're looking for a tutor that can not only help you academically, but also can assist your test anxiety & organizational skills, you have found the right person!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I am currently an ESE Elementary Teacher. I work with several students with learning/behavioral disabilities including ADD, ADHD, OHI, & EBD. I have passed the ESE K-12 teacher certification exam. I also have experience working in a behavior unit in St Johns County School District.

Common Core

I am currently an ESE Teacher. I have to teach common core reading & math to my students that are working close to grade level. Also, I prepare my students for FSA/DE/DFAs through common core standards.

Phonics

I am currently an ESE (Exceptional Student Education) teacher. I work with children that have learning/behavioral disabilities. To close their reading gaps, I work with phonics-based programs like Wilson Reading to address phonics, language, & comprehension deficits.
