Illinois College (History)
My name is Zachary B. I am born and raised in the Chicago land area. I attended High School at McHenry West Campus. My mother was a special education teacher, and I was supposed to be in special education classes all through school. My mom did not want me to be labeled and placed in those types of classes. I struggled at first but then I found ways to study and learn. I was told I would never go to college let alone graduate with a college degree. In December 2010 I graduated with a Bachelor's in History and a Minor in Psychology. My study habits and work ethic all stem from school. As everyone else was out playing with friends and making school look easy I was at home hitting the books earning every grade I received. I know ways to trick the brain into learning and remembering what they are learning as well as making it fun. My goal and passion is to help others learn and feel like they can accomplish anything they put their mind to. I am willing to put in the hours as long as you are willing to work.
After college I joined AmeriCorps. It is the PeaceCorps but you stay in the United States. I was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska working with inmates on electronic monitoring. After my 1 year contract expired I moved to Texas and went to the Police Academy in March 2012. I graduated the Police Academy in July 2012 and worked as a Deputy and an Investigator for the past 4.5 years. I have recently moved to Florida due to family circumstances and I have obtained my Temporary Teaching Certificate.
I have handled all the accounting for my business in Texas that I ran outside of me being a Deputy.
I have an auditory processing disorder and I am 1/2 deaf in both ears. My study habits got me through college when I was told I would never graduate nor attend. The way I study makes it easy for the person studying so they do not need to be quizzed. It involves every thing one needs to learn and remember.
I have played baseball my entire life. I have played in high school and college. Since I was 14, I have been a hitting and first/third base coach. When I was 14 years old I hit 75 home runs in a single season.
I am very dedicated and motivated to help students reach their full potential. I know what it is like to struggle in school and feel like things will never get better. I made it through college and a police academy all on my own with my study habits and skills. I have a desire to teach others how I succeeded so they will be able to as well. My name is Zachary B.
