William Woods College (Business Admin)
I graduated from an all-girls college and majored in Business Administration with two minors, one in Sociology and one in Equine Science. I enjoy reading, writing, math, and artwork.
When I was in Fourth and Fifth grade I was a study buddy for First graders and I taught them how to read. I really enjoyed the satisfaction I got when someone learned something I taught them. Later on, I home-schooled my two children from Second grade to Ninth grade.
On my first meeting with a student, I ask them about their hobbies so that I can understand more about what makes them tick and I use that to teach them. Each student uses different senses for learning. Some learn best by hearing while others learn best by doing or seeing. Once I know what works best for my student, then my lesson plans are much easier to prepare and the student will be more eager to do the work.
I can't wait to meet my new students this year!! I graduated from an all-girls college and majored in Business Administration with two minors, one in Sociology and one in Equine Science. I enjoy … Read more
Pamela was on time and got along great with my daughter! She responds quickly and is easy to reach. She also quickly identified my daughters week spots and was able to teach her in a way that my daughter understood- She stayed for 2 hours on our first meeting!!! I will be recommending her to my family and friends!!!
We are very happy with Pam and how she patiently works with our daughter. Pam takes her time and makes sure our daughter fully understands the concept being reviewed then tests our daughter with extra math problems. Pam is always on time and our daughter truly is enjoying math. We highly recommend Pam as a tutor for anyone who struggles to teach math concepts to their own children.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have home schooled both of my children. My daughter started home school in Third grade and my son started in First grade. Both of them were below grade level in their reading skills. It took me one year to get them up to grade level with their reading.
I can also teach younger students study habits and how to spend less time studying and more time having fun. Yes, you heard me right! I was taught that if I spend only 15 to 20 minutes studying a subject, I would be more likely to recall the facts than if I spent two hours trying to memorize it all. It works!
I graduated college with a B.A. in Business Administration, a minor in Sociology and a minor in Equine Science. I enjoy teaching and have found that if you can make it fun, they will retain it.
When I was younger, I was a Girl Scout. I earned every single badge in the Girl Scout manual including my Swimming badge. Part of earning that badge was learning CPR and learning how to jump in the pool without having my head go under water. Now, that's easier said than done! We also had to tread water for 30 seconds or more with our head above water the whole time. This is a fun competition for kids who are learning to swim.
My Dad built a swimming pool in our backyard. He taught me to swim when I was only two years old. The first thing he taught me and all of my friends was Safety! Safety is the most important thing to understand when learning to swim.
Since I am a small-framed person, I do best teaching younger children to swim. I do like to have fun with it. I enjoy teaching children who are respectful and willing to learn. I have two children of my own who have been swimming since a very young age as well. It's easy, fun and best of all, it's great exercise!
