As a former student, retiree and a parent of four children ranging from 39 to 21, I am aware of how hard it is for a student to grasp certain subjects without that special one-on-one help from someone outside the classroom other than the teacher. This is why I have dedicated my time to making myself available to help anyone that is in need of my service in the areas of English, Reading, and Handwriting.
I bring to you 20+ years of management and training of which I credit my accomplishments to the University of the Virgin Islands where I received a Master's in Public Administration, a Bachelor's in Business Administration/Management and an Associates of Arts in Office Administration. I love tutoring students in the area of English, Reading, and handwriting because I see them as basic skills needed to achieve all desired occupations. As a substitute teacher for the past three years on and off, I have had the opportunity of helping students to improve their grades and test scores on the Elementary and High School levels of Orange County, Florida.
I am anxious to hearing from you on how I may help your child succeed with their studies in and out of the classroom. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I love Art and out of Art, I acquired a very nice handwriting. I will show students how to construct letters by using art. Handwriting is a skill that has to be shown step by step and I have the patience to show a student how to improve their handwriting and improve their grades. Of course, practice, practice, practice and I am willing and available to help your child succeed.
As a Substitute Teacher, I have had the opportunity to help students at the elementary level with Reading and comprehending what they had read. I love to challenge the student but not overwhelm them. They will have homework assignments that will correspond with their classroom assignments. I do periodic assessments and progress reports. I enjoy feedback so that both the student and I can improve. My goal is to make sure that the student improves his/her grades and test scores.
