I am an English teacher who has been teaching in the classroom for 17 years. I have worked in two states and have many student success stories in English Literature, Reading, Writing and Test prep. I teach learning strategies that help students gain success in reading and writing across the academic curriculum. I have taught college English Literature classes and Writing classes as well as middle and high school English, Reading, and test prep. My students almost always come back and let me know of their successes. I love teaching, and strive to ensure each student is successful.
Throughout my 17 years as a classroom instructor, I have done private tutoring as well as "home bound" one on one instruction. Home bound instruction is tutoring and instruction for students unable to attend school. As a private tutor, I have taught English Literature, test preparation, writing and reading strategies. Tutoring is an added bonus for me, and has always been, because I am able to give my full undivided attention to the one student I'm working with and together we can try new methods that may be more appropriate for that particular student's learning methodology and grow as learners.
I am an outstanding English tutor because of my patience and tenacity. I do not give up on my students, and I do not accept "I can't do it." Everyone learns differently. I work hard to find ways for my students to learn and achieve. My students are always amazed at all they have accomplished when we look back at where we started and where we end our sessions.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
