Alfred University (Fine Art)
Hello! My name is Kelly and I have a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, with minors in Psychology and Dance, and a Professional Certificate in Design. I am well rounded both artistically and academically and have a love for illustration, sculpture, biology, and psychology. All of my passions come into play when telling stories through my art. I have many years of experience in teaching both art and swimming lessons. Having been a lifeguard, swim instructor, art teacher, and camp counselor, I am adept at working with and teaching children.
I love teaching because I love watching people grow and find their passions, build their skills, and feel more confident about themselves. Having a love for psychology means that I fully appreciate growth and development of people, as well as knowing tips and tricks to teach and remember facts.
I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil and using Photoshop since I was ten. I took all the possible art classes in my high school, along with classes offered outside the school at the local museum; I graduated cum laude with a Fine Arts degree, and still went on to get a Design Certificate. I am adept in Adobe Creative Suite programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign and work in both 2D and 3D in a variety of mediums. If you are looking for a very well rounded and educated art tutor, I'm your girl.
Besides being very educated and disciplined in the arts, I'm pretty fun, too! (or so I'm told). I love reading and cats and philosophical conversations, and while that may not sound extremely exciting, I assure you I am! Anyway, I look forward to talking with you more about tutoring opportunities and can't wait to meet you! Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art. I have been commissioned by several companies for my illustrative skills, including Creative Circle, Paul Smith's College, Stacked Graphics, and www.booksthatgrow.com. I have taken many figure drawing classes, both in and out of school, and work hard to refine by style and learn new and different styles of drawing. Examples of my work are available upon request.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art from Alfred University, where I took several painting classes, along with painting classes from the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, NY. I am skilled in oil painting, acrylic painting, watercolor, and encaustics. To see my work, please ask to see my portfolio.
My parents put me on a competitive swim team in first grade, and I continued to swim competitively all the way through twelfth grade, first for my local swim club and then for West Irondequoit High School. I made varsity half way though seventh grade and became the team butterflier. At 16 I became a lifeguard and at 17 I got my Water Safety Instructor Certification and have been teaching children to swim ever since.
