About Jason

My name is Jason, and I love doing math problems! I minored in mathematics while working on my Bachelors in finance and am currently working on my masters in Business Analytics. I have spent my entire adult life working in very quantitative industries. I have worked as a trader in New York's financial district, a real estate investment firm, and currently work as a data analyst. Prior to all of that, I spent four years as a successful online poker player where I learned to become extremely proficient in doing quick mental math, especially with probability. You can say that I have always had an affinity for numbers.

I thoroughly enjoy helping others learn new things. Back in my poker days, I would spend down time coaching up-and-coming players and helping them become better at the game. I can provide that same dedication to your math education. I often spend my down time at work on math forums just to help others like you who have posted questions on their homework, for no other reason than the fact that I just have fun doing it. I like to work through problems slowly and teach you the all of the steps you need to solve problems so that you will be able to do similar problems on your tests as second nature. I want to make sure you understand how problems are solved and not just focus on rushing to what the answer is. "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll eat for life."

My specialty topics are up to and including algebra, pre-calculus, calculus 1, and college level probability and statistics. I scored a 750 on the SAT Math section and feel confident that I can teach you to do better on the SATs as well.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
