I have been tutoring and teaching since I was in middle school. The first experience I gained was teaching math and reading to elementary students and even had the opportunity to help teach Vietnamese students English as a second language. My teaching experience continued through high school but in the form of teaching soccer and fitness. Once I graduated from University I became an Educational Instructor teaching informal classes on Marine Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, Zoology, and Behavior Modification.
I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of people who all learned in different ways. I understand that everyone learns differently. Each tutoring session will be tailored to how you learn. My goal is to set you up for success while challenging you, this will build your confidence in the material. Finally, I want you to leave the session with a greater understanding of the material and to be able to connect the information to everyday life.
I have earned a Bachelors of Science: Marine Biology, minor Chemistry, concentration Animal Behavior Research. And I have 6 years of informal teaching experience. I also have
8 years of hands on experience working with a variety of animals, research studies, lab work, and environmental studies. I am very much looking forward to hearing from you and helping you with your studies! I have been tutoring and teaching since I was in middle school. I have 10 years of paid soccer training, goalkeeping specifically, experience. In those 10 years I worked with a variety of athletes from children with Autism to NCAA Division I athletes. I was contracted to be a trainer at several Southeast regional prospect showcase camps. In my experience I have worked in private, small group, to large residential camp settings. I specialize in technique, footwork, breakaways, and shot stopping. In addition to my paid experience I played for 22 years. In that time I played R3PL for the state of Georgia. I played ODP III, made Region III pool, Super Y League, and NCAA Division I.
Growing up I was diagnosed with a learning disability. I had to learn study skills and had several courses on how to be proficient at them. Since that time I have had to use the skills taught to me in those classes to balance my undergraduate degree (BS Marine Biology, minor Chemistry, and concentration Animal Behavior Research) while being a student-athlete, working, and volunteering. Today I still utilize those same skills to help me in my Master's program of study. I have tutored several students, family members, and peers on different types of study skills and feel that my personal experience and understanding of its importance will be able to benefit others.
Not only do I have 6 years of informal experience teaching about zoology I have 8 years of hands on experience. Currently, I am a senior animal trainer in the zoo field. Working in the zoo field in addition to my prior experience teaching makes me the perfect candidate to tutor students in the subject. I am able to give them real world examples and utilize my experience.
