I believe in life-long learning and that everyone can learn something new every day. Reading is my passion and it is the foundation to being successful learners. Thinking critically and communicating the what, how, and why both orally and in written format are crucial to one's success. Providing lessons that can meet the diverse learning styles of every student is very important to me. I love to individualize lessons that students enjoy and to help them want to learn and be successful!

She was able to jump start on the subject matter immediately, and is very knowledgeable and helpful. She was easy to connect to schedule. Debbie is experienced tutor and knows how to keep kid focused. She came prepared with supplies and study material. Highly recommended!
Thank you Debbie for always coming up with Creative ways to teach! My son is learning to love writing & is now getting straight A's in writing & reading! His teachers talk about how much progress he has made.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught 1st grade for 3 years, 3rd grade for 2 years, and small group intensive reading and math for 6 years. The small group teaching included students in grades Kindergarten up to 8th grade. I have also taken 3 gifted classes and plan on completing the gifted endorsement this year.
I have been teaching for 12+ years in Elementary grades. I also have 3 children of my own. I know that if the proper (or easiest) method of print is not taught right away, students can have difficulty with their handwriting long term. I have worked with students to improve the quality of their manuscript and cursive writing abilities.
I have taught 1st grade for 3 years, 3rd grade for 2 years, and small group intensive reading for 6 years. In addition to my teaching experience, I have also tutored numerous students in various grade levels in Reading, phonics, and writing.
