About Gerardo

I am Colombian and recently graduated Freedom High School in May of 2015. Following that I decided to further my education by starting my fall semester at Rollins College. Currently I am a Sophomore (credit wise) majoring in Computer Science, minoring in Film Studies, and committed to the 3/2 program that Rollins offers in which I will get my MBA in a total of five years. I believe that by furthering my education many doors will open up for me. Furthermore, I find an immeasurable amount of happiness comes from aiding others with topics they don't understand, therefore, when I found this option I jumped at the sight of it. I want to help you become better and to succeed.

I have practiced theater for over four years. I have been in many productions such as Legally Blonde, Into the Woods, Chicago, Annie, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Fools. I was the president of the Drama club in High School. As a stage manager, I led a one act to achieve superiors at the District and State level. Furthermore, I have performed contrasting monologues that have received superiors at the District and State level two years in a row.

I have taken several film classes over the past few years. Introduction to Film, Seminar in Cult Cinema, and Film History. On top of that, I have seen precisely 1,012 films (I have a list). I'm currently watching films and reviewing films, analyzing the mise-en-scene and the diegesis. Everything from the film score, editing, writing, directing, and acting is important.

I am incredibly outgoing and love to help other people out. During my time at Freedom, every Tuesday and Thursday I would volunteer tutoring math to other students with Mu Alpha Theta. I averaged about 70+ hours throughout my time there. Topics would range from simple mathematics, to Algebra, Algebra II, Calculus, and Calculus. Moreover, sometimes I would go and help some of my past teachers if some of their students needed aid with any subject. This included helping some of my English professors by joining their tutoring sessions and helping students improve their writing style--help them find their own voice. My years spent in Drama have developed my articulation skills. These developed skills once mixed with my past experiences tutoring truly make me exceptional at what I do.

My love for tutoring and teaching has come about from the love I have for my teachers. The way some of these teachers inspired me has changed me and inspired me to want to be just like them. They broadened and expanded my mind, they allowed me to see beyond just the surface and for that I am forever grateful. I would like to try to be that for someone, to give them someone that they can look up to, someone that can help them when they need that help. Whilst I may not be studying to become a teacher as soon as I exit college, I one day hope to be a professor and you can help me get there!

So, THANK YOU! For reading this bio and being awesome. If you want my services or have any questions let me know.
Have a great day :)

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Very professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. — Gerardo is one of the most friendly, smart, patient, and caring individuals. He was exceptionally punctual and replied within seconds for setting up the meeting. My daughter has been struggling with Calculus for months but Gerardo made it all seem so easy in only one hour.
