About Christopher

I am a current PhD student at the University of Central Florida interested in issues pertaining to National and International Security. I have experience teaching undergraduate level courses in International Relations, Comparative Politics, American Security Policy, American Government, and more broadly in contemporary political events. I enjoy educating students about the broader global community and the helping students understand how countries interact with one another both diplomatically and in situations of conflict.

I also enjoy helping students improve their writing skills including grammar, writing style, and critical evaluation skills. Writing can be a struggle for students and I enjoy assisting them in critically assessing their own writing, comparing it with other writing styles, and helping them find a way to convey their thoughts and ideas in a compelling and objective way. Often times it is easy for students to go in a direction that deviates from objectivity....I believe that I am an excellent candidate to assist students in critically evaluating their opinions and writing convincing and well developed papers/assignments.

As a current PhD student, writing is the foundation of what I do. I also grade university level students and can offer insight and advice about what faculty may be looking for in terms of grammar, writing style, etc. In addition, I believe that I provide students with the tools necessary to actually improve their own writing as opposed to simply serving as someone who proofreads their assignments and tells them how to improve (even though this will be a part of my tutoring services).

I have an extensive background in political science and international relations dating back to my undergraduate course work. I have studied American politics and government, International Relations, Comparative Politics, Political Science Research Methodology, and Security Studies. Each of these fields have given me an in depth historical background. However, I am by no means a history major--students looking for someone to tutor them on early human history would likely benefit from a different tutor. However, students looking for someone to tutor them from 1700 onward have come to the right place! I have experience both as a teaching assistant and as an adjunct faculty member teaching students at the university level in these fields and enjoy helping students learn about these topics.

I am a motivated and hardworking individual and I can assure students who contact me for tutoring sessions will be more than happy with the academic services I provide. I hope that students take some time to review my educational experience and reach out to me if they feel I can assist them. I am happy to answer any questions or address any concerns so please feel free to contact me! I look forward to the opportunity to tutor you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Political Science

I have an undergraduate degree in Political Science and International Relations. I also hold a Masters in Public Management and a Masters in International Conflict Management and Resolution. I am currently a doctoral student in Security Studies and will complete coursework in May of 2016. In addition, I have taught political science courses at the undergraduate level for 5 semesters and I have extensive time working as a teaching assistant in the political science department at my current institution.
