About Wendee

I am an experienced dance teacher and have been teaching dance and running my own dance program for over 15 years with over 150 students enrolled. I teach dance 20 plus hours a week, including classical ballet, pointe, pre-pointe, jazz, lyrical, tap and creative movement. I have experience teaching 2 through 18 year olds and have also taught adult ballet classes. I teach private lessons often and specialize in choreography and catching students up to the technical level that they need to be at.

Teaching dance has allowed me the experience of teaching large groups as well as one on one lessons. Although most of my tutoring experiences include tutoring dance students, I am excited to help students learn other subjects as well.

I am patient, intelligent, educated, and have experience working with different learning styles. I feel most comfortable tutoring elementary students in person. I have worked with elementary students for over 15 years. I have the patience and knowledge that it takes to help get a student ahead. I am most proficient in elementary science, grammar and history. I served as an elementary substitute for several years, have taught elementary dance education for 15 years and taught 6 months of elementary music.

I am a dance professional and have run my own dance program for 12 years. I danced with a company in college and spent one year training with a ballet company in Lakeland, Florida, after graduation. I have taught private lessons for several years and know the terminology and placement that a dance student needs to excel in ballet.

I am also interested in tutoring other subjects online, which could be any age. I'm good at reading and comprehending directions and relaying them to others. I look forward to helping you learn! Feel free to contact me to learn more about me and to see if I am a good fit to teach you or your student.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Ballet

I have a degree in Dance Performance and Educational Dance from Ball State University (graduation date 5/6/2000). I spent one year training with the Lakeland Ballet and have over 15 years of teaching experience. For the past 12 years, I have been running my own dance program with over 150 students enrolled. I teach dance 20 plus hours a week, including classical ballet, pointe, pre-pointe, jazz, lyrical, tap, and creative movement. I have experience teaching 2 through 18 year olds and have also taught adult ballet classes. Elementary (K-6th)

I have over 5 years of experience substituting elementary subjects including math, spelling, Bible, reading, music and dance. I spent one semester filling in for a first grade teacher who was out on medical leave and was responsible for creating 1st grade curriculum, running reading groups, giving tests in Math, Reading and Spelling, and grading several papers. Most recently, I taught elementary music for 6 months and have continually taught elementary dance for the past 15 years.

Fitness

As a dance instructor, fitness is very important to me. I teach stretch and core conditioning each week to help get my own dance team into tip top shape. I know the proper stretches to do before different fitness routines as to avoid injury. I have taught classes to children and adults that have included yoga exercises, ballet bootcamp, fitness walking, T-25 and weight training for dancers.

Study Skills

I have always been an "A" student and believe that it is largely due to my own study skills. I have worked with different students and taught them how to use notecards, word / picture "tricks," reading and memorization methods. I also taught a semester of Study Skills at Faith Christian Academy in 2006. My own children, ages 7 and 8, are also straight "A" students and I help them to manage their time and study properly.

Yoga

I graduated with a major in Dance Performance in college and was required to learn and perform several Yoga movements. I have incorporated these movements while teaching dance and have 15 years of teaching experience. I continue to work out daily, following Beachbody's T-25, PiYo and various yoga videos online.
