About Larissa

I am a 23 year old Engineering graduate student. I got my degree at the University of South Alabama in December 2016. I have a passion for math, languages and electronics. I have been professionally tutoring for 1.5 years , but I have been helping/tutoring friends and family for a couple more years.

During my college career I worked at the University of South Alabama as a Math Tutor with the Developmental Studies department for over a year. I primarily tutor college level algebra, but I have also tutored geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, calculus and for languages Spanish.

Throughout my educational career I have taken many math courses, and I love the subject in general. I have always liked it, I'm really good at it and I love teaching it to students.

I am a native Spanish speaker, born in Mexico, therefore I'm 100% fluent. I have done informal Spanish tutoring since I was in High School.

My goal is for students to not only get the right answer, pass the examinations or get the grades they want but to actually understand the material. I love to be able to make a student understand the concept, understand what are the steps we taking and why. I don't like to just solve the problem and give the right answer. What I like to do it start by asking what steps they took and where did they get lost, explain what needs to be done next and make the student figure out the next step.

Contact me if you have any questions! I look forward to working with you to help you succeed and meet your academic goals.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Very smart cookie!

She knows her stuff with math! Explains very well and makes the material easy to understand. I would of definitely recommend her to anyone that is not good in math like myself.
