Physics and mathematics can be challenging, but it doesn't have to be painful! With over 10 years teaching and tutoring experience in Physical Science, General Physics, and Engineering Physics, I know the many challenges students face. I can help you develop a personalized study plan that will ease your journey to comprehension and successful problem solving.
I emphasize core concepts and definitions, i.e. fundamental ideas. We will work to first understand the nature of the problem, second the physical principles involved, and finally how to arrive at a mathematical solution. Along the way we will gain additional insights and understanding which are often lost in a "formula" based approach.
I enjoy teaching and look forward to those moments when a student's face "lights up" with understanding! I can offer a very flexible schedule to meet your needs and will work with you to develop study methods which facilitates your comprehension of the material. You will find me to be both patient and persistent, with a sincere interest in helping you acquire mastery of your subject. Stephen has done a great job with my son. I look forward to seeing his SAT results in a couple of weeks. I highly recommend Stephen for any math tutoring you may need.
Stephen has helped both my daughter who is on her way to become a medical doctor, and my son who is still in high school. He comes on time, prepared, and he stays focus the whole session helping the student. Good person as well.
Stephen helped my daughter to better understand concepts of physics and strategies for problem solving. As a result she did well in a quiz she had the next day and is looking forward to her next tutoring session.
I am taking Physics for Engineering I at UCF and I was really lost and the material wasn’t making any sense for me because I’ve only taken Physics in Arabic. He explained every problem and solve them step by step in a really simple way which made the chapters that I struggled with super easy.
We've been using Stephen weekly for several months now and think he's top notch. His teaching style and explanation of Algebra and Geometry concepts jibe perfectly with our daughters learning style.
He's helpful and I just hope the more tutoring lessons with him ,the more progress I get so I can past my Act.He was patient and asked me questions to make me think and figure out problems. I just wish we could have more time other then a hour.
The 1st lesson was a real success. My granddaughter was really impressed with Stephen's knowledge and said he was easy to follow. She is looking forward to the next lesson. Thanks so much!
Super kind, smart and knowledgrable. My son I very happy with his tutor. stephen knows how to communicate his knowledge to the student. You will be very happy with him. Highly recommended.
Stephen is a great teacher. As the best tutor for my 14 year old daughter, (who is taking Honors, Algebra 2), Stephen has been able to explain very complicated math to her in a way that she understands it and she has gained confidence in her ability not only to hold her own, but to excel in a class of students who thrive on competitive math. I could not be more pleased.
Thank you so much for all of your help with my stubborn niece. She needed patience and a better explanation on how to answer those algebra questions! She was able to complete some of their other questions by referring back to her notes.
Mr. K reviewed precalculus concepts in preparation for a test. He stayed an extra 30 minutes to ensure all the material was covered and I felt prepared.
Stephen has told me about Algebra II and it is going so far so good. He is very good at making examples and explaining questions.
Able to explain material in a way that is easy to understand. Both of my kids think he is great
Very knowledgeable and patient. We review almost half semester in 3 hours. I was amazed by his confidence in topics.
Our daughter has been struggling with Algebra 2 for the first half of this year. After her first session with Stephen she stated that she was glad to have someone who took the time to explain the concepts thoroughly. Stephen was patient and went over information that she struggled with until she felt comfortable with it and grasped the concepts.
Good first meet up, he's a nice guy very knowledgeable and knows how to talk to beginners. I decided to continue meeting with him, I believe he will help me for my class.
He taught me about graphical representation of displacement, velocity, and acceleration, and the interpretation of the slopes of the graphs.
Stephen is assisting with SAT Math and did very well. My son said he has such a better understanding now working with Stephen.
He definitely knows his stuff and does a good job of breaking down problems into smaller components to help you work through the bigger issues.
We are delighted that Stephen is working with our son to increase his understanding of college-level Physics. We are very pleased that WyzAnt has made it possible for us to locate a tutor with Stephen's knowledge and skills.
We are all very impressed with our initial session with Stephen. After working with our son he was quickly able to determine what he needed and what he was missing. For the first time in 3 years we feel that we have someone who will be able to get our son on track.
Stephen has been working with our son since November. Our son is getting straight A's in math and Stephen has kindly been assisting him now in chemistry! Again, the difference is marked. Stephen has been able to explain the concepts thoroughly and our son's understanding is noticeable.
Stephen is very reliable and so very knowledgeable.
Stephen went the extra mile and gave me some of his personal notes packed with very useful information that will help me approach future physics problems! He took his time and went over every step for each problem that I had a question for. He made sure I understood what was going on.
It started off a little rocky. But once we got into something I actually understood. It was overall a good tutoring session. He definitely knows his "math."
Steve worked patiently with my son who has a very hard time grasping math concepts sometimes. My son learned a lot and was able show some improvements in a short time. A plus is that Steve is very flexible with scheduling.
My son says he is the smartest person he knows. Nick brought his grade from a D to a high B which is amazing. He is great at making himself available for emergencies. We are very happy with him!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
The ACT relies primarily on word style problems in a multiple choice format to assess a student's ability to understand precisely what is being asked, and to formulate a correct response. Critical reasoning rather than a demonstration of memorized formulas is what is expected and required for successful completion of the test. I can help you interpret these word style problems, and to then translate that understanding into a mathematical expression that will allow you to select the appropriate response.
The science portion of the ACT places an emphasis on short essay style presentations of subject matter relevant to the possible multiple choice responses. Students are tested not so much on knowledge that they have retained from previous coursework, rather they are tested on their ability to read critically and to extract the information necessary and relevant for an accurate response. I can assist you in developing the reasoning and problem solving skills necessary to successfully and accurately completing these types of multiple choice word problems.
A firm grasp of the techniques of Algebra I are crucial to any continuation of study in mathematics. I can draw on my own skills, expertise, and experience in tutoring an teaching, to help insure that you not only gain a firm grasp of the subject matter, but also to prepare you for additional levels of study.
Both Algebra I and Algebra II pave the way for higher studies in mathematics. I can help you reinforce the skills you are seeking to acquire in the classroom and work your way past any troublesome concepts that interfere with your mastery of the material. I will draw on my experiences to help you develop a clear grasp of the material at each step of the way.
Calculus is a challenging and diverse subject, which calls heavily on skills acquired in previous study of geometry, trigonometry, and algebra. It is also one of the principal mathematical tools used in physics and engineering. With my PhD in physics, I have had to make extensive use of calculus, both in my own studies as well as my lecture presentations. I can draw on my experience to help you gain proficiency in this often bewildering subject.

Pre-algebra is a time to review the fundamental concepts of mathematics and to begin honing the skills necessary to successful mastery of more future math courses. With the skills and knowledge I have gained with over 10 years of tutoring and teaching experience I can help you reinforce the foundation skills you have already acquired and in addition develop an understanding of the concepts and tools essential to mastering Algebra and beyond.
The study of calculus draws heavily on many of the ideas and techniques acquire in geometry, trigonometry, and algebra. I can help you identify those fundamental which are crucial to future success and help you strengthen the core skills and knowledge which are essential for mastering the techniques of calculus.
The SAT tests are designed to assess both a students knowledge as well as the student's ability to reason and analyze. The very nature of these tests can present challenges for students who are not comfortable with the multiple choice testing or word problem format. The test covers a wide range of material, from prealgebra through algebra 2, as well as geometry and trigonometry. Careful attention needs to be paid to the wording of the questions and to distinguish between similar possible answer choices to determine the correct response. I can help you develop the reasoning skill necessary to enhance your ability to find the correct answer and to recognize unsuitable choices in the multiple choice format and to construct clear, well defined solutions.
My undergraduate degree was a B.S. with a major in Physics and a minor in Mathematics. My graduate degree (PhD) in Physics included additional graduate study in Mathematics as well. 10 yrs experience teaching and tutoring undergraduate students.
