Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey (Theater Arts)
I have been teaching for three years, and love working with and helping others realize their full potential. The subjects I have taught include English, British Literature, and Theater. In addition, I taught a GED course in Language Arts for a year, where I was delighted to see so many of my students (of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life) earn their GEDs and move on to far more fulfilling lives. I also have an extensive theater background, having earned my BFA in theater arts from Mason Gross School of the Arts, which houses an intensive acting conservatory at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. My experience as a theater actor--particularly with Shakespeare--perfectly complements my facilities with both the written and spoken word.
I am the ideal tutor for anyone needing to improve his or her reading, writing (spelling, grammar, etc), or test preparation skills. Not only am I proficient in the subject matter that I teach, but I care. I care about the people I teach, and want to see them succeed! Anyone who has worked with me, whether as a student or a colleague, will tell you that I have an outgoing, open, and gregarious personality. I also have quite a sense of humor. It's just the kind of person I am. If you wish to work with me as your tutor, I can promise you that I will do my very best to ensure your success. I look forward to working with you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have an extensive background in theatre, having obtained my bachelor of fine arts from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. I have performed on stage for many years. Additionally, I have taught theater on the K-8 level and am a certified theater teacher--grades 6-12--in the state of Florida.
