Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I have worked with numerous students diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. I have learned various strategies that can help students focus better and apply their learning. Some strategies include: more time, wait time, and flexible scheduling.

Aspergers

I have a specialization in this area in my Master's program from University of Central Florida. Most students with Aspergers are very bright but may need help with social skills training. There are strategies for academics if needed such as: more time, drill and practice, and Performance Based Instruction.

Autism

I have a specialization in Autism in my Master's Program from University of Central Florida. I currently teach Autistic students at a local middle school 6-8th grades. I enjoy it. I can provide social skills training for appropriate behaviors, and use various modification and accommodations in the lessons taught.

Bible Studies

I have facilitated a prayer group for the past 3 years where we have had bible study incorporated. I would love to provide bible study to those who desire it. The student would be guided through the new and old testament.

Career Development

I taught at Boone High School where I taught a mixture of 9-12th grades. The students were dropped off at different job sites every day and I monitored them to see if they performed their duties correctly. I was over my job coaches to make sure they assisted the students properly as well. The students received job skills as well as on-the-job training. One student was place at a job part-time.

Dyslexia

I have taught in Special Education for the past 14 years. I have taught students whose parents stated that they may have had trouble due to dyslexia, mixing letters around. I have experience with students who had learning problems and have my Master's in Special Education.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a Florida Teacher's certification in Elementary Ed. K-6. I have taught in all subjects: math, science, social studies, reading, and language arts.

Special Needs

I am a special education teacher and have taught special education for almost 15 years combined in Orange and Osceola counties. I have used many strategies to help students achieve academic success on various levels. I am certified in Special Education K-12 on my Florida certificate and I have a Master's in Exceptional Education from University of Central Florida.

Study Skills

I have taught Learning Strategies in the public school sector. In Learning Strategies, students learn various ways to study and retain information for tests. They learn how to prepare for tests and projects. They also learn organizational skills to help them better achieve success.
