While earning my degree, I have had the privilege of substitute teaching over the last couple of years for Orange County Public Schools (OCPS). Not only has the experience proven to be paramount to classroom management, it has also made me realize how much I want to teach others.
My past work experience (I owned a successful business for 7 years), along with being a father (and even grandfather) has given me the opportunity to mentor others. Through logic, patience and attention to detail, algebra 1 becomes less of a chore and more of a game that you will use for the rest of your life with confidence in everything from leisure activities (card games) to occupations (most everything).
For me, pre-algebra is the foundation for everything from algebra 1 to geometry, to statistics. if you don't have a solid foundation, nothing else will make sense, but a solid foundation will allow you to not be so intimidated going forward. It's like trying to watch football (or any sport for that matter) on TV and not knowing the rules. Pre-algebra is the set of rules going forward in you career, whether you want to be a business major, psychologist, or just about anything in life, pre-algebra is paramount in moving forward with confidence.
