As a teacher, I have been professionally certified and working in the classroom since 2012, teaching a wide variety of math and science courses in mostly non-traditional environments. These special schools require teachers to be able teach nearly any lesson for any course on a given day, and require an exceptionally high level of content knowledge in order to be successful.

I find that a conceptual understanding of the core concepts is key to developing deeper levels of understanding, for any subject matter. When working with new students, I always find it beneficial to spend extra time during the first few sessions re-building that foundation together.

I look forward to meeting with you and helping you with all of your math and science needs.

Business

Business,

Business

I am one class away from finishing a B.A. in Management from Northwood University. I have spent time working in sales and marketing, acting as a venture capital consultant, and helping entrepreneurs develop a business plan. I have a firm understanding of all aspects of business, including management, marketing, logistics, finance, accounting, business law, economics, and new business development.
Marketing,

Marketing

Marketing is the field of business concerned with setting prices, managing logistics, analyzing target markets, and communicating with and satisfying customers. It consists of all advertising efforts (creative and technical), all logistical efforts including transportation and inventory management, market research, and all levels of customer interaction. I have previously worked in advertising at the MacDonald Broadcasting Company. My experience in both the creative and technical aspects of marketing and advertising allows me to offer levels of insight and understanding that cannot be gained from a textbook alone. In addition, I have taken numerous college level marketing classes, including specific courses on consumer behavior, market research, public relations, marketing management, and logistics. For my business degree I have also been required to fulfill requirements in business law, management, accounting, and economics, providing me with a broad base of understanding in the discipline of business administration as a whole.

Precalculus,

Precalculus

Precalculus is NOT calculus. Precalculus is algebra. It is the highest level of algebra before going in to calculus. It is a course that focuses on the three most important aspects of algebra necessary to do calculus, (1) Functions, (2) Trigonometry, and (3) Analytic Geometry. Throughout the course you will explore these topics to new depths of understanding, expanding on the concepts learned in earlier courses and applying them in new, more difficult types of problems solving scenarios.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

SAT Math is a standardized, timed assessment of basic math skills, 54 questions delivered in three parts, over 70 minutes. While many of the questions cover skills learned below the high school level, the highest skills coming from geometry, they are asked in a style and difficulty in accordance with college level exams. Key skills for success on this test are time management, understanding of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry principles, and the ability to efficiently set up word problems.
Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Biology, Chemistry, Geometry, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Prealgebra

ACT Math,

ACT Math

ACT Math is a standardized, timed assessment of basic math skills, 60 questions delivered in one part, over 60 minutes. While many of the questions cover skills learned below the high school level, the highest skills coming from Trigonometry and Algebra II, they are asked in a style and difficulty in accordance with college level exams. Key skills for success on this test are time management, understanding of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry principles, and the ability to efficiently set up word problems.

Trigonometry,

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is the advanced study of relationships present inside triangles. Due to their unique nature among polygons, more information can be inferred from the size, shape, and position of a triangle than from any other shape. In trigonometry these relationships are analyzed to build the problem solving skills necessary for success in calculus and physics.

Track & Field

Track & Field

I ran Track and Field in high school, my race at the time was the 800m. The most important thing I found about running is conditioning. Track is about training your body the way school is about training your mind. I currently run every day, vacillating between periods of sprinting and distance. I find that as I work at distance, I can get more and more comfortable with it, but it is harder to push for noticeable increases. In those periods, I will switch to sprinting, which helps build leg muscle and high endurance, making it possible for me to run even further when I switch back to distance. My current sprints are 400m each, and my current distance runs are 5k. It is a great pleasure to be able to train with someone else and help them reach their goals of conditioning, distance, and speed.

now she believes

My daughter had developed a belief she could not do math. Yesterday she shared, "I know I can do math and Im not bad at it, I just have trouble focusing. Josh helps me focus and he is funny." Music to my ears.
