About Edna

Welcome to my world of learning. I have an Associate in Arts degree in Education. I enjoy the search for information and details about our world, our nation and our community. In my pursuit for learning, I observe, investigate, communicate and reflect on ways to improve myself and those around me.
I enjoy working with adults and children as they explore their potential in learning about themselves and their world. I have experience in Early Childhood classrooms, in nonprofit literacy organizations and in community literacy programs.
I enjoy nature, gardening, sewing, embroidery, quilting and reading. I have recently incorporated some photography in my world of nature and quilting. I have basic computer skills and I am exploring the digital world.
As a tutor for you or your child, I would express an interest in needs and learning goals. I would incorporate lesson objectives in details to assist in ways to include specific learning styles and personalities. I would provide study advice, examples of study helps and resources in specific areas of learning.
I prefer to study at the public library. The library has resources and a neutral place to reduce distractions, and I have found it helps to build discipline and focus. I encourage reading, writing, listening, repetition and practice. As your tutor I would encourage your efforts with honesty and examples of goals to work towards.
I would be delighted to assist you or a family member in your learning journey. Thank you for considering me in your choice of a tutor.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
