Hofstra University (English)
I am a recent Cum Laude graduate of Hofstra University, on Long Island, NY. With my Bachelor's in English (concentration in creative writing), I plan on becoming a writer myself one day. I have been teaching children in a variety of things (dance, swim lessons, English tutoring) for many years, and it is only my passion for becoming an author that prevented me from pursuing a career in full-time teaching.
I have worked with kids of all ages (3-20), and have had success in all areas. I am often told by parents, or even onlookers, that I am great with the children, and this is the highest form of flattery I can think of. I love to teach, because being able to provide a child with knowledge for their future is something so uniquely wonderful, that it's nearly impossible to describe. I also hope to inspire my students, both for their future, and for their confidence in themselves.
I have a willingness to help a student learn that enables me to achieve my goal. I never lose patience, and never lose focus; my goal is to teach, and that is where my passion lies. I have had many different teachers over the years and have learned through a variety of techniques, which I myself use to help my students, because I believe that having only one method of teaching is suffocating to a child's education.
I am available for tutoring beginning October 1st, 2016, from 9am to 6pm. I have my own reliable transportation, and can travel to the student to suit his or her needs. My base rate is $40/hour. I look forward to hearing from you, and helping you to grow and learn! I am a recent Cum Laude graduate of Hofstra University, on Long Island, NY. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
