In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Algebra 1 is the beginning of a series of Algebra classes; this course sets the standard for critical thinking-an essential part of the high school experience.
In my years teaching school, I mostly taught geometry. Although I realize it is a challenge to some students, it is my favorite subject.
Pre-Algebra is the introduction to Algebra and continues the critical thinking elements of the secondary school.
