Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe InDesign

I have worked for a publishing company using InDesign. I am also currently laying out a high school yearbook in InDesign.

Adobe Photoshop

I teach Photoshop on the college level to beginners and professionals (and all those in between). I have been an Adobe Certified Expert in multiple versions of Photoshop and have kept up with every version including CC (Creative Cloud).

Desktop Publishing

I have worked with Quark and InDesign professionally as a designer and layout technician for a publishing company in NYC. I am currently laying out a yearbook for the high school that I teach at in InDesign.

I was a Fine Arts major in college. That meant that I had to take drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography classes. I also teach at a fine arts college; while I don't teach drawing there due to SACS accreditation rules, I still am able to practice and keep my skills sharp.

Elementary (K-6th)

I took a number of elementary preparatory classes while studying for my MS Ed. I also worked at an elementary school as a permanent substitute and K-2 library teacher.

I am a certified English teacher in multiple states and have years of experience in the classroom. I can help guide writing skills from middle school through high school and beyond into college and graduate school.

I am a NYS and FL licensed high school English teacher who has an MSEd in adolescent education.

My first Mac experience was in 1991 with OS 6.0. Throughout the years, I studied and adapted as the OS and hardware improved. From 2003-2005, I worked for Apple Computer in Soho in regards to sales, customer service and training. From 2005-2008, I worked for Apple resellers with software and hardware support for the photography industry. I can help you from the basics of "how do I find my pictures on this computer" to more complex troubleshooting concerns.

Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon.

I majored in studio art in my undergraduate studies which required numerous painting classes. In addition, in my MFA Photography program, we were expected to take courses outside of our discipline as well. I took a number of painting classes. I continue to exhibit both my photography and my paintings nationally.

I received my B.A in Studio Art (concentration in Photography) and my MFA in Photography from Pratt Institute. From there, I spent a number of years within the NYC photo industry, working in a variety of roles.

I am a photographer as well as have worked as an assistant on major advertising and fashion shoots. I also have been a digital imaging specialist for major rental and sales houses working with the latest technology. I will give their names upon request. I often tutored clients one-on-one on how to use Photoshop and proprietary capture softwares. My clients ranged from museums to the top photographers in the world.

It was working one on one with these clients that inspired me to become a teacher.

Public Speaking

As a middle and high school English teacher, I routinely work public speaking (and it's Common Core standards) into my curriculum. Students must speak in front of their class daily. I also teach speech writing techniques such as rhetoric.

Social Studies

While I am officially an English teacher at my school, we often align what we're doing in English to relate to the students' social studies curriculum. We worked on a 6-week-long Election project this year, and I ended up teaching political content so they could actually understand the issues at hand AND write about them. In addition, we've been doing various 20th century literature projects and connecting them to events in history.

Study Skills

As a middle and high school teacher, I frequently take time away from the actual subjects to work on time management and HOW to study (opposed to - just do it). Middle and high schoolers often know that they need to study but just don't know how.

Web Design

I am a self taught web designer. I know HTML 4 and 5, CSS, Photoshop for graphics, some Flash, and can edit Cold Fusion. From 2002-2005, I had a design business in my services included web design for small businesses (eCommerce not included).

Great Tutor! — Larissa was prompt and professional, and made herself available on short notice. My 10 year old son at first seemed hesitant to cooperate and be tutored, but a few minutes later, Larissa was able to capture his attention, and was able to get a lot out of him. After the tutoring session, my son felt good about his work. I have only used her once. However, we look forward to working with Larissa aga ...
