Often students feel overwhelmed by the English language, and rightly so. It is a difficult language to perfect, but it is also a beautiful language once it is mastered. With my background in journalism, I have a working knowledge of grammar, punctuation and writing techniques. In addition, I have taken courses in creative and essay writing, giving me a wider knowledge of different writing styles. I've edited papers at the master's level as well as one book.
I am capable of assisting students in kindergarten through college.
Although not a certified educator, I spent seven years working in the school system as a teacher's aide in an elementary school media center. Those years have provided me with an understanding of the education expectations in our community.
I do have some teaching background as a photography instructor, working with students as young as 10 years old and as old as 80.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
