About Gail

I am NYS certified in both Elementary Ed. and Special Ed. I have had many years of teaching within a classroom setting as well as in the field as a private tutor. I have also worked for Nassau BOCES and Nassau Community College in the fields of ESL and Spanish. My 'students' range from middle school to adults, whose need to learn this language is both academic and/or job related.

In addition to my degrees in Elem.Ed. and Special Ed., I have approximately 20 graduate credits in the field of Reading. I served as a Reading Teacher/Consultant in the Kansas City school district for approximately 3 years.

I have worked for several tutoring agencies in the past, both here and on Long Island. I enjoy my work and continue to have great success with most of my students.

Currently, I work part time with a company that specializes in private tutoring for middle and high school students receiving mandatory home instruction. I also work privately with adults in the areas of Spanish and ESL (ENL).

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADHD

I currently am Lead Teacher at a community
based center in an after school program
for children with ADHD and autism.
I am NYS certified in Special Ed and have
been actively teaching in this field since
1992.

ESL/ESOL

I have worked as Adjunct Professor at Nassau Community College as well as serving as ESL instructor for BOCES for 15 years. My Masters is in Education with a Reading foundation.

I have served as Adjunct Professor of Spanish at Nassau Community College on LI for 10 years. I have a Masters in Education as well as NYS certification in Special Ed.

Special Needs

I am permanently certified in the field of Special Education, K-21. I received my certification from Adelphi University. I have worked for Nassau BOCES for approximately 14 years, and have taught Special Ed. on all levels, including pre-k visually impaired.

Study Skills

I have a Masters in Education and have
NYS certification in Special Ed.
(K-21). I have been tutoring students
elementary through high school for about
20 years. Most of my students have had
a variety of both academic and emotional
issues which have made it difficult for
them to achieve success in their academics.
By focusing on proper organizational skills coupled
with good study habits, it is hoped these
students will reach a significant degree
of success in their schoolwork.
