I am currently an instructional Assistant of high school special needs students (3 years) and a former a middle school science teacher (9 years) with a Florida certification for General Science/(Grades 5-9). I have been teaching in Florida since 2003, but have had previous teaching experience when I lived in Massachusetts. I also have worked for two local tutoring companies between 2005 and 2007, for which I taught students of ages 6-18. One tutoring company was an 'at home' tutoring service, the other was on-site at the location of the tutoring school. I can provide you with a 'unique' teaching style with makes the subject area interesting and fun to learn.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a middle school science teacher and have taught sixth grade numerous times. I also have tutored elementary students after school for "Club Z" and "Huntington". I am great at establishing rapports with young people and can explain material to them with simple examples.
As a middle school science teacher, I was required to take a 60 hour course in ESL/ESOL strategies and techniques called "ESOL Empowering Teachers". Each year I have ESL/ESOL students in my classroom where I help them understand the material using extended time, giving examples, modifying quizzes/tests, summarizing and various other techniques.
I have been working with computers since 1972. I have been a programmer, systems analyst, systems manager, data processing instructor and a help desk representative. From 2001-2003, I took a two year course majoring in computer classes and receiving an associate's degree in Certified Network Administration.
In addition to my past swimming instruction history, I have recently been re-certified in CPR and First Aid.
In college I majored in TV and Film production, earning a Bachelor's of Science Degree. I have worked for a film company at one time and in 2007, I created a film production course for middle school students.
