American University (International Studie)
I am an outgoing "people person" who has a gift for making those around me feel comfortable. I am patient and have always enjoyed coaching and motivating young students, especially those who rely on me to learn. I have been teaching for almost three years in various contexts; as a third grade teacher, in an after school program, adults in international companies, language institutions, summer camps and soccer teams. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Communication from American University and a Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) certificate. My favorite subjects to teach are English and Spanish, however I am comfortable teaching math, history and geography. My personal teaching philosophy is that interest is the key to learning. Therefore, my teaching style focuses on planning and delivering lessons with creative, personalized teaching methods aimed at keeping the student interested in the subject material, thus motivated to study. My personal interests include languages, culture, international politics, sports, humor and cooking.
I like to incorporate real life scenarios into mathematical concepts in order to catalyze the student's interest and understanding of the important of math. My high level patience also allows me to excel at teaching Elementary Math and Algebra 1.
I have two years of experience teaching ESL. I have my TESOL/TESL/TEFL certification. I was a third grade teacher at an international school in Argentina, planning for and instructing all subjects for a class of all English levels, beginners to advanced.
I am a fluent Spanish speaker due to my two years of time living and teaching English in Argentina. I have tutored native English speakers in Spanish. I have also lived in Israel and studied Hebrew my whole life. I excel at teaching reading and writing in Hebrew.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
