“**Prepared, Patient, and Pleasant**”

I HAVE ACHIEVED REMARKABLE SUCCESS TURNING "FAILING" INTO "A" GRADES. My sincere enthusiasm for tutoring is conveyed to my students with a positive attitude, infectious inspiration, and an abundance of patience. I hold a B.S. in mathematics. Math is my first passion. I believe in explaining the "why", not just the "how" of mathematics. With

Cindy is always prepared with new information that I may need for the planned session. She's very patient and pleasant.

Cindy helped me understand many math concepts on the FTCE Subject area exam that were always hard for me. She is very friendly and patient. I would highly recommend her if you are needing a math tutor!

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I recently tutored ACT Math with a well known Tutoring/Learning Center.

I am currently tutoring Geometry and Algebra with a well known Tutoring/Learning Center.

My most recent Algebra II student finished out the year with an 'A' grade.

As a private tutor, Florida S.E.S. Tutor, and as an employee of a well known tutoring/learning Center,

I programmed in FORTRAN as a Math Major in college, and then again in engineering applications as a Programmer Analyst with Southern New England Telephone. I have had two formal courses.

I have been tutoring G.E.D. prep, for the math portion of the test, for several years. All of my students have earned their G.E.D.s.

I am currently tutoring boh Geometry and Algebra I/II with a well known Tutoring/Learning Center.

I have had positive results helping students with the 8th grade Writing FCAT.

A proficiency in Logic concepts was central to my college studies, and requisite in earning my BS in Mathematics.

As a computer Systems Designer, a firm understanding of the fundamentals of Logic Rules is essential in multilevel programming logic.

I have tutored Logic to several of my high school/college students with much success.

The mathematical application of Logic in Truth Tables and Arguments is sometimes difficult for the student to comprehend. I believe in providing simplified examples to build upon.

Praxis - Florida (FTCE)

I have been tutoring for the following portions of the FTCE tests with much success:

FTCE General Knowledge Math (828) test.

FTCE Middle Grades Mathematics 5-9 (025) test.

I have study outlines to follow to be sure to cover each topic. I've gathered topic material which is comprehensive and comprehensible. Each test topic is paired with a great number of sample exercises. And of course I have practice tests.

I let my adult students set the pace; perhaps skipping some material, while tackling other topics with a beginners approach; as they see fit. As with all of my students, my enthusiasm for tutoring is conveyed with a positive attitude and an abundance of patience.

Working with a math-centered tutoring organization, I tutor math to many Middle School students. Accent is given to moving the students into the optimal level of math for the following year.

As a Florida SES tutor, I taught Reading/Language to students in grades 1-6. Improvement in the SES program was measured by pre/post multiple choice tests designed to replicate FCAT testing. All of my assigned students performed poorly at pre-test, and achieved significant advancement on post-test evaluations, surpassing goals set by Florida guidelines.

My personal claim to fame is that I scored the highest on the math portion of the SAT, of all fellow Junior/Seniors in my High School. For this I was awarded a College Scholarship.

I have tutored many students to help develop organizational and study skills. We always start off with an individualized questionnaire to learn the student's current procedures and any hurdles that need to be addressed. At first, we work on changing basic habits, ex: writing down all assignments, setting study times and locations, etc. I use quite a few checklists and handouts to supplement the lessons. Tutoring will also include specifics of studying for current class material and actual tests. Test taking strategies are part of this undertaking. I have helped section 504 students with this discipline. Regular communication with parents is essential for improvement.
