University of Havana (Art History)
I am passionate about life and all the ways we have to express our vitality; languages being one of them. I am a native Spanish speaker and I also studied Spanish at the University of Havana. I have lived in the United States for 13 years and taught Spanish for 15 years, both in Havana and Miami, to adult students from all over the world with different backgrounds and ages.
My students' interests and well being are my priority. I hope to be a catalyst for the things you want to see manifested in your life. My classes are a fusion of grammar, conversation, listening, reading and cultural knowledge of the various countries where Spanish is spoken.
It is a great pleasure for me to see beginner students progress to levels where they more fully integrate within their communities as well as to see advanced students build even more confidence in their abilities to take the next steps in their life projects.
As the saying goes, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear" .... Hope to meet you soon.
Pelican Finn Hola,

Group classes up to 8 students maximum. $125 per hour.
Creates an immediate comfort level which is so important for one learning a new language. Her style is loose and very encouraging making her students eager to progress.
We are just getting started but I am very excited to continue to study Spanish with her. She started with an overview of her teaching style and then made it very easy for me to participate at my own pace and level.
Pelican is a marvelous tutor with a great sense of humor. She has a excellent command of both English and Spanish, and can explain any word or phrase with ease. As a Cuban American, she can coach the student in either a standard Spanish, or bring in Cuban dialect words and expressions. I would recommend her to any student, from beginners to advanced.
Pelican is very easy to deal with and she cares deeply about teaching Spanish. I am taking a higher level Spanish course and she has been able to help me without any problems. If you are looking for a Spanish tutor look no further than Pelican Finn!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching Spanish as a second language for twelve years. Ten of those years I have been teaching at a private language school in Miami Beach, Florida. I also have been a private tutor for ten years in Miami, Florida, developing a large network of students and language teachers in my community. I studied for two years at the Pedagogical Institute in Havana, Cuba where I got trained in grammar, literature, linguistic, phonetic and pedagogy in order to be a Spanish teacher.
