About Fallon

Hello all!

My name is Fallon, and I hope that you consider me as your tutor!

After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Florida, I worked in neurosurgery as a tech helping guide the surgeon and ensure that the patient's nervous system was intact. This reignited my drive, and I began a post baccalaureate program at the University of West Florida in Biochemistry. Additionally, I worked in a Mass Spectrometry and Liquid Gas Chromatography research lab where I demonstrated my mastery of chemistry. Next, I studied at the University of South Florida's College of Medicine and graduated with a Master's in Medical Sciences. I am also happy to be a medical student pursuing a career in Neurology!

That being said, I have full availability on the weekends. I have years of experience teaching in formal settings (ages 4 and up), and I have also attended, organized, and lead various study groups throughout my years of college education. My style of teaching (and learning) is "hear one, do one, teach one." In my personal experience, this method has helped me not only ace my exams, but also to truly learn and retain this information. If this is not your style, I am very flexible and able to accommodate your personal needs. Furthermore, I know how hard it is to get into Medical School, and I am eager to share my tips.

Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Anatomy

I medical school, you kind of have to be good in Anatomy :) That being said, I can certainly help and answer your questions

Chemistry

In addition to my degrees, I have worked in a Chem lab at UF and did research at UWF in Pensacola Florida for the BP oil spill in the Gulf.

Genetics

I have taken Genetics with Lab at the University of West Florida and got an A- in the course. Also, I have taken Medical Genetics at the University of South Florida College of Medicine and received an A in the class.

MCAT

I took the MCAT in July 2012. I scored an 11 in Physical Sciences, 8 in Reading, R in writing, and 10 in Biological Sciences. I have both Princeton Review and Kaplan course books, flashcards, notes, review, and work books to help students studying for the MCAT.

Microbiology

This is one of my strongest areas

Organic Chemistry

I took Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 with the Lab at the University of West Florida. In both courses, I had the highest grade in the class. My average for Organic Chemistry 1 was a 99%, and my average in Organic 2 was 100%. Furthermore, I worked in an Organic Chemistry research lab carrying out Mass Spectrometry, Liquid Chromatography, and Gas Chromatography analysis.

Pharmacology

I have taken Medical Pharmacology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine and received an A average in the course. I also have extensive training from medical school.

Study Skills

I have effective time management skills. When I was a teenager, I was a straight A student, had a part-time job, was a member of various school organizations, interned at my church, and was on a nationally ranked Cheer-leading squad. While in College, I worked full-time and participated in various college clubs and intramural sports.

In order to be able to remain a well-rounded student, I had to maximize my study time. I have developed several techniques to help me grasp and retain basic and advanced concepts. This has helped me achieve a 3.9 GPA at UWF, and a 3.87 GPA at USF's College of Medicine.

Swimming

My mother taught me how to swim before I could even walk. I swam competitively in middle school where I was the anchor for the women's free-style relay and swam butterfly for the medley relay. My favorite stroke is the butterfly, and during a training camp with Olympic Gold Medalist Rowdy Gaines, he hand selected me out of the entire training camp as an example of perfect form for each stroke. In high school, I volunteered as a swimming coach, and I continue to swim in college.
