In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught in the state of Florida for eight years. Common Core was first approved in the state about seven years ago and I was thoroughly trained in how to teach using the Common Core standards. Also, I have been using the Florida State Standards for the past three years which are very similar to the Common Core standards.
I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in elementary education in 2010 from FIU. I have been teaching at the elementary level for the past eight years. I have taught first, third, fourth, and fifth grade all subject levels.
I have tutored children who attend school using the Florida Virtual School system. Also, using Florida State curriculum I have supported home school students.
