About Nathaniel

Hello! My name is Nate. I graduated from Brown University in May of 2015 with a degree in Music Production and a degree in Literary Arts. I am an aspiring teacher, with many years of writing and music experience under my belt. I consider myself a patient person, and one that is willing to go above and beyond expectations to achieve what needs to be done. I always seek rewarding experiences in life, and to me that has always been through teaching and mentoring. I like to encourage a relaxing environment and hope to work with students of all ages to help them reach their academic goals.

I've been writing for over twelve years now and never plan on stopping. I've mostly focused on creative short stories, but I've also dabbled in screenplay writing, novellas, and creative non-fiction.

I've been an avid musician since I was 8 years old, beginning with piano and eventually transitioning into guitar, which is my main forte. I took professional guitar lessons for over five years and then continued to strengthen my skills and erudition at College. I have a degree in music production, which includes recording, editing, and mixing, as well as composition and music theory.

If you are interested in learning more about me, feel free to message me here to get in touch!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

English

English has always been one of my strong suits. I've always loved reading and writing, and especially American Literature. I went to school at Brown University for Literary Arts, which covered a wide variety of literature and creative writing. I am an experienced essay writer as well.

Guitar

I've been playing guitar for over 10 years now, having studied guitar theory, a little bit of classical, and jazz at the Lockport Music Center in my hometown. While in college I administered some private lessons (mostly for fun and practice) to fellow students who were interested in learning more about the instrument. As far as teaching it goes, I would begin with the basics of the guitar and work towards technique and eventually more complex music theory. I would work with students to help them achieve their specific goal with the instrument.

Music Theory

I have been studying music theory since I was 8 years old, beginning with Piano and eventually moving on to guitar. I took professional lessons for years, and then continued to develop my musical erudition at Brown University, where I majored in Music and Literary Arts. It is a subject that I am beyond confident in exploring and tutoring.
