About Dean

My goals are to assist students realize their potential, to inspire a love of the subject matter, and to improve their grades and test scores. As a parent of two high school students, I know the importance of excellent habits and inspired commitment in achieving excellent academic results.

The most impactful teachers are those who inspire love and enthusiasm for the subject matter. I had those types of teachers myself, and as a result of I have spent my entire adult life continuing to study the social sciences which I tutor.

I am an honors graduate of Wesleyan University's College of Social Studies, an interdisciplinary program in History, Economics, Philosophy and Politics based on the Oxford tutorial system. I also double-majored in Political Philosophy. During my junior and senior years in college I tutored sophomore students in economics and history. After college, I attended the N.Y.U. School of Law, and was an editor of the Annual Survey of American Law. After law school, I practiced law in New York and London as a partner of a large international law firm specializing in litigation. I have spent 25 years working with young lawyers on their writing, analytic skills and oral presentation. I recently retired from law practice to devote myself full-time to teaching.

I am a proficient tutor for high school and college students in the following subjects: American History, European History, Politics/Government, Economics, Philosophy, and World History. I competed nationally in Speech and Debate in high school and college, and can also tutor those subjects. In addition, I can tutor with regard to writing, proofreading, editing, and college essays.

I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies!
