About Jamal

Ever since I was a child I have always had a vested yearning and appreciation for knowledge. I had tons of questions about the physical world that I would ask my parents or peers about but they couldn't answer them. To satiate my drive for learning, I would take to books, TV shows, and the internet. I took the phrase "knowledge is power" to heart because if you think about it, without clarity or understanding, you will be at the mercy of someone who is more intelligent and or more powerful than you are. With knowledge and understand, you can take life by the horns and carve your own path in the world, ultimately deciding your own destiny. I am currently enrolled at Miami-Dade college studying Physics and Chemistry. While studying, I also find it fun to talk to and teach my family and friends things that I learned either in school or on the net. The subject could range from time dilation to cybernetics, emerging technologies or building computers, I loved talking about them all. The thing I love most about tutoring is the look in someones face when they truly grasp a new subject or a subject they have been struggling on. It gives me great satisfaction to help them overcome obstacles by shifting their perspective on the subject. I have multiple years of experience regarding tutoring through some programs you might be familiar with such as, buddy reading, Impact, and STEM. When I was in the buddy reading program, I would go to various elementary schools and read to kids, teaching them proper grammatical skills and syntax. In Impact, I would volunteer at the Miami Museum of Science during the summer to mentor and tutor kids in various subjects that were primarily science and marine related, such as combing beaches looking for and identifying fauna and flora. With STEM(which is short for Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) events we would perform experiments in front of kids, trying to get them excited for science.

I obtained my Associate's Degree, and I am currently pursuing my Bachelor's in Computer Science and double minoring in both Physics and Mathematics.

If anyone needs help, I will always be there to assist. Never be afraid to learn. :D

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I had to master fundamental maths. So yes, it will be fun preparing students for the ACT Math.

Algebra 1

I'm currently taking pre-calculus and trig in college, so Algebra 1 was a very old prerequisite for me. I've tutored a couple of people off the books in Algebra, teaching them basic things such as factoring. I study maths everyday so I can be sharp enough to teach people what I know.

Algebra 2

I passed Differential Calculus and currently studying for Integral Calculus. With that being said, I had to master both Algebra 1 and 2 before I could take higher level maths. So yes, It will be fun teaching Algebra 2 to someone with little to no knowledge of the subject.

Astronomy

Astronomy is one of my favorite subjects due to it getting me interested in academia in the first place. Throughout childhood, I've consistently scored excellently on any science based subject. I'm a current STEM ambassador majoring in Physics, and have taken and aced Astronomy in college.

Elementary Math

I've been doing elementary maths all my life. It has pretty much become more like auto-pilot when I integrate this into higher levels of maths such as Algebra, Geometry, and Pre-Cal . I am very comfortable tutoring this level of maths because I practice on my siblings all the time.

Elementary Science

I am very confident in my ability to tutor this level of science due to constant practice on my siblings. I have the experience to tutor kids because as a STEM ambassador, I'm required to do it all the time. Elementary science is one of the subjects in which a lot of questions get asked, and I would love to apply feedback to anyone who needs help in this subject.

Geometry

I had to master geometry before I could take higher level maths.

Physical Science

I'm in university majoring in Computer Science and double minoring in both Physics and Mathematics. I have an affinity for the Physical Sciences and Mathematics. I think I'll be able to teach these subjects to someone who doesn't have the fundamentals of these subjects.

Precalculus

I passed Differential Calculus and currently studying for Integral Calculus in the upcoming semester. With that being said, I had to master pre-calculus before I could take higher level maths. So yes, It will be fun teaching pre-calculus to someone with little to no knowledge of the subject.

Trigonometry

I passed Differential Calculus and currently studying for Integral Calculus in the upcoming semester, and I had to master Trig.
