Hi Scholars! I am already so excited to work with each and every one of you to cater to your specific needs as committed learners!
My love for learning stems from the inspirational teachers and professors that have surrounded me throughout my years as a learner. As a recent graduate of the University at Albany (SUNY), with a 3.8 GPA, I have dedicated my life to achievement through scholastic dedication. Now, as a proud Teach for America Corp member and full time high school teacher, I have taken that zealous, lust for learning, and focused it towards aiding young adults. It is my passion to work towards the overall success and achievement of young men and women, not only in the classroom, but outside of it as well. I am a firm believer that what we learn inside the classroom should be fully transferable to the outside world. This belief has led me to my pursuit in English over the course of my teaching career.
My specialties include a broad range of subjects that encompass multiple aspects of English. I have taught and tutored in New York City, Chicago, Illinois, and have recently began another journey in Miami, Florida, as a 10th grade Speech teacher. Also in my teaching career, I have taught courses such as English 1, English 2 Honors, Creative Writing, Spoken Word Poetry, Freshman Experience, and Sociology. My background in English, Sociology, and Education have thoroughly prepared me with the knowledge and qualities of an effective tutor from whom students can learn from and relate to.
As an experienced teacher/tutor, but a new member to WyzAnt, I am willing to add a free consultation meeting if so desired.
Also, knowing that special circumstances occur, I have allotted an 8-hour cancellation policy for students. I will always be open to rescheduling sessions that students miss because of such circumstances. At no point in time will any student be charged for their cancellation within the allotted time frame, nor will they be charged if they feel their session was not completely successful for them. This standard of success will riddle throughout all my lessons and will be seen through meaningful assignments, assessments and activities.
If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me! I look forward to speaking with you and assisting you in your future success and achievement. Hi Scholars! I am already so excited to work with each and every one of you to cater to your specific needs as committed learners!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I can tutor ACT Reading, ACT Writing and English.
I believe I can teach the game of basketball due to my experience as not only a player, but a coach as well. I have played the game of basketball for about fifteen years and have not lost an ounce of enjoyment or love for the game. I have previously coached a group of 6th graders in skill and development of on court-knowledge as well as 9th graders from basic fundamentals to play calling. Basketball is something I will never lose a passion or knowledge of.
As an avid player of chess, I believe I am capable of teaching this game, or craft rather, to all willing individuals. My experience as a novice player throughout middle school fueled my interest in the game. Playing throughout high school on our local chess club, and expanding my skills on a collegiate level, have afforded me the experience necessary to teach this amazingly tactful game.
As a current high school English teacher in Miami, I am all too familiar with Common Core and the standards in which it attempts to meet. These standards are not only new, but rigorous adaptations of previous systems. On a daily basis, I implement the Common Core standards and embed them in each and every one of my lessons. This vast knowledge has given me the ability to teach this new system at a higher level.
