About Charles

Greetings! I have extensive music training and teaching experience. I teach upwards of 30 students on a weekly basis reaching from Fort Lauderdale down to Palmetto Bay.

Many of my private students have been recognized at the Florida All-State Music Conference and the NAfME All-National Music Conference. Most recently, my private, upright bass student was awarded fourth chair in the nation and performed in the Symphony Orchestra concert in Nashville, Tennessee.

I am available to my clients during the week, weekend, and over holiday breaks from school. I try my best to work with families as closely as possible regarding scheduling and the development of their child's music education.

I hope to teach you or your child in the future.

Musically Yours,
Charley

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Cello

I play cello at an intermediate to advanced level and teach beginning orchestra class at a local private school.

Composition (Music)

I currently teach private music lessons to many students throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties. I utilize finale and smartmusic for my classes on a daily basis. I am consistently composing radio/pop songs into playable songs for my band and orchestra classes. I have a Bachelor's degree in Music.

Ear Training

I have had over 25 years of education in ear training - it is something I use in all subjects of music learning and instruction.

General Music

Began playing music when I was a toddler and have continued playing and performing all throughout primary and secondary education. I completed a Bachelor of Music which entailed a transference of knowledge and ability to learn multiple instruments. I can play everything from bass, cello, viola, violin, electric/acoustic guitar, electric bass, reed instruments, piano, woodwinds, and brass instruments. I am self-taught in addition to formal education from my undergraduate degree program.

Guitar

I have formal higher education training in bass and guitar (both acoustic and electric). I have performed live with many bands including senior recital, church bands, and local bands in the south Florida community.

Music History

As a part of my Bachelor's degree in Music, Music history and theory courses were required as core courses. I incorporate my music education and performance courses with bits of music history and facts.

Music Production

I am the manager for establishing music production sets for my band and orchestra classes live performances at the school. I ensure that all equipment, cables, and instruments are set up in the right locations and soundcheck for proper sound levels.

Piano

Piano is the foundation of all music. I teach piano to very young students who are not able to play or hold a string instrument, but have parents who wish to introduce their children to music note reading and playing. I have many students who have been honored to participate in the All-State music conference and have even earned first seating chair in the state of Florida.

Sight Singing

I travel with my band, orchestra, and chorus to a variety of music competitions which require sight reading and sight singing. I educate my classes in this area to prepare them for competitions.

Violin

I teach multiple students privately in violin currently. Since I am a string instrument expert, I am highly qualified in the following: violin, viola, cello, bass, electric guitar and bass. Once I mastered one of them, I was able to transfer my knowledge to all of them.

Voice (Music)

I currently teach voice/chorus at the school I work at.

Knowledgeable

My daughter improved playing the violin from Charles as he incorporates both music theory and violin strategies in each class. He is very knowledgeable and informative--especially for different events that she can participate in.
