University of Miami (Master's)
Hi everyone! My name is Jing, but everyone just calls me Shishi.
I am from Shanghai, China originally. I am currently working at Michael Kors as a manager. In 2014, I graduated from the University of Miami and achieved my master's degree of arts, majoring in public relations. My bachelor's degree was achieved in Shanghai, majoring in English. I am excellent in verbal and written communication in both languages of English and Chinese. My mother tongue is Chinese Mandarin.
My previous tutoring experience started from when I was in undergraduate. My tutoring subjects include Chinese, English, and maths. I have always enjoyed working with kids, teaching them what I know and of course the friendship between us. This experience has been enjoyable, as well as educational.
I have been tutoring a 9 year old girl in Chinese for almost a year. If you ask them about my tutoring style, they would say I am highly professional and passionate about what I do, while maintaining a fun and positive learning environment.
My philosophy of tutoring is focused on fun learning and encouraging teaching. Mandarin is nothing intimidating. Everyone can speak it as long as you practice on a regular basis and have the faith that you can do it. For kids, they want to go out and play, instead of getting stuck in a class. I would always try to inspire the competitive human nature in kids and encourage them to do more and better. When they finish a certain part of the class, there is no hesitation for me to give them "a round of applause" simply because they deserve it and I believe they can achieve more.
I am great with kids and comfortable with tutoring different age groups ranging from 7 to 16. By the end of the semester, my students would not only see me as their Chinese tutor but also a good friend.
My schedule can be flexible . The cancellation time would be 24 hours before class.
Thank you for taking time to go through my profile. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

My teaching method focuses on fun learning and heavy load of practice. Not only do I show the students what's in the book but also try to speak to him/her in Chinese whenever we can, just to create a casual-learning atmosphere, in an everyday life setting.
