I’m a bilingual, Summa Cum Laude B.A. in Literature and Philosophy from the prestigious Universidad Católica Andres Bello in Caracas, Venezuela. My years of experience in the field of language instruction and translation include teaching both, English and Spanish, at reputable academies like the Wall Street Institute; translating literary and technical texts for private translation agencies; language interpreting for non-for-profit and corporate organizations including IBM; and private, at-home English and Spanish tutoring for elementary through high-school students and foreign executives.
Teaching, like gardening, is one of my passions. The joy of caring for and seeing a seed grow and blossom into something beautiful is comparable to that of seeing the sparkle in my students’ eyes the moment comprehension happens.
I am enthusiastic about being your tutor and glad that you chose WyzAnt to look for one. I sincerely hope to hear from you soon! Mayda arrived for my first Spanish lesson on time and prepared. She is enthusiastic, and has a clear style of presenting material. I recommend her highly!
I learned a lot with Mayda. She is a good teacher.
She is very patient and taught me to remember the numbers. I like her classes. Today I speak in English 2 hours in my appointment. Thanks Mayda for teach me as well.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
