My name is Victor, (me llamo Victor) and I am a current Master's student at USF. I am in Miami for the summer and I want to share what I have learned from my 6 years of learning Mandarin and 2 years living in China. After studying the language for 1.5 years, I won 4th place worldwide in the Chinese Bridge Language Competition, a nationally televised show in China that had millions of viewers. Additionally, I have worked with the Chinese Travel Channel, hosting a couple of their shows in Chinese, for a Chinese audience. I have also participated in numerous TV shows and live performances in the US and China.
Language fascinates me, and I hope that after working with me you will feel the same way. I am focused more so on communicating effectively in Chinese rather than translating from English to Chinese. My goal is to help you THINK in Chinese because it is only when you do this that you can truly speak Chinese. Thinking in English and translating into Chinese is inadequate if you want effectively communicate with the Chinese people. I will immerse you into a full language experience, including classes in which we will only speak Mandarin.
Get ready for an exciting crash course on Mandarin Chinese. (If this is too intimidating we can also take it down a notch. It's up to you how intense you want to make it). I look forward to seeing you and by the time we are done we will be having conversations in Chinese! Hello everyone,
